Top 12 Most Anticipated Movies for 2012

Most people do this at the end of the year, or the beginning of a new one, but I dare to be different.

This is my top 12 list of my Most Anticipated Movies for 2012. Why 12 well because I like to go one step... err... two...err.. because its 2012 o.k?

Most of these are still under development, but since IMDB has them slated for 2012, I can consider them. Granted some may not see release then but one can hope.

Anyway, here we go:

# 12

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

With most of the cast from Peter Jackson's Lord of The Rings Trilogy reprising their roles this promises to be a epic story like the trilogy before it. It Also has a sequel being filmed simultaneously so expect more Tolkien universe in the years to come.

# 11

The Bourne Legacy

Reviving the Bourne franchise that made Matt Damon famous, this movie promises the same heart pounding action and involving storyline as the previous 3. Sadly Damon will not be coming back to the role. But if Jeremy Renner of "The Hurt Locker" fame, and Edward Norton are any indication the movie is set to be quite interesting.

# 10

G.I. Joe: Retaliation

With the addition of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and the beautifully gorgeous Adrianne Palicki (her Wonder Woman show fell through sadly) this is a sequel that promises to be leaps and bounds ahead of the original. Also Arnold Vosloo will reprise his role as the magnificently evil Zartan master of disguise. He was really the best out of that movie anyway, so its nice they kept him.

# 9

Underworld: Awakening

The gorgeous Kate Beckinsale returns for the fourth installment of the Underworld series. The Third Installment was not as good as the previous 2 and did not feature Kate except for a scene taken from the previous movies to bookend the movie. I'm not expecting top notch writing in a series like this, but there's always something about skin tight vinyl (sorry no whip) on Kate that just draws me too her.

# 8

Men in Black III

After the great success the first movies had I'm surprised it took them this long to make a sequel. Really funny dialog and really ridiculous situations is what this franchise is about. Let see what other adventures Agents Kay and Jay have in store.

# 7

Ghostbusters III

Yes the much touted sequel since 1989. Who knows if its really materializing after the success of the video game, and whether the actors can actually commit to the project. So much contradictory information is circulating that its hard to sort out whats true and what's not. IMDB slates it for 2012, probably not, but hey one can harbor hope.

# 6

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

Yes most people classified Nick Cage's Ghost Rider as a steaming pile of cow dung (figuratively speaking). I on the other hand found it fairly entertaining, and considering what the back story of the character is, the movie was always going to be a bit out there. The effects where pretty good, the story managed to mesh together 2 of the Ghost Rider's back stories into a cohesive one fairly nicely. Fans of the character of courser would say it was a disservice to both characters used and while the movie fails to deliver the darkness that should accompany the Ghost Rider its over all an o.k film so a sequel is not out of the question.

# 5

Total Recall

The Classic Arnold Schwarzenegger futuristic sci-fi action flick gets a revamp with Collin Farrell in the title role of Douglas Quaid. It appears the story has been changed a bit. Being a big fan of Arnie and Total Recall, I am very curious to see what they can do with modern special effects. Kate Beckinsale takes on the role once played by Sharon Stone of Doug's wife/agent, while Jessica Biel becomes the rebel tramp Melina.

# 4

James Bond #23

Still lacking a title the 23rd film of the longest lived movie franchise is back on track. MGM comes back from chapter 11, and in association with Columbia Pictures is now working on the nest installment. Barbara Broccoli, daughter of famed Bond producer Albert R. Broccoli and who has served as producer for the more recent installments, is back at the helm. Daniel Craig is back as the womanizing secret agent. Hopefully we'll get to see more of the surrounding characters of the Bond mythos such as Moneypenny and Q this time. The previous 2 movies were a bit of a departure from the debonair Bond we were used to, but offered an interesting look into Bond's inner workings. Specially when his loved ones are threatened. Going back to a more traditional Bond film for this installment will be a good thing though.

# 3

The Amazing Spider-Man

Going back to the teenage years, this strange reboot of the franchise is something I''m very very curious about. I mean the first 2 outings of the Tobey McGuire series were really good. It was the last one that kind of derailed that train. I'm sure with a good screenplay a 4th installment with Tobey as Parker would have been operational, but lets wait and see how this one does. Finally getting around to actually featuring the Lizard a.k.a Dr. Connors this reboot is doing what Sam Raimi couldn't do in 3 movies even though he had Dr. Connors in all 3 of them. Hopefully the story line is better than the last one, and the usage of characters is not as rushed and undeveloped as it was in Spider-Man 3.

# 2

The Avengers

Yup, I've been following the Marvel movie universe, and so far I've liked what I've seen. So I'm really hyped up about this one specially after having seen the sneak peak at the end of Captain America and all the build up we've had in now 5 movies. I'm afraid with all the hype its not going to live up to it, but still its poised to be a great movie with all the main Avengers present from each of their films.

# 1

The Dark Knight Rises

Of course you know this is the one I want to see the most. Yes not very imaginative, but what can I say, I love the Batman, and love the Nolan movies. I'm hoping to see them incorporate something of the Knightfall story arc with Bane, however I doubt Bale would let them break his character's spine half way through the movie, and since no immediate sequel has been announced, I doubt they'll go that route. Anyway, this is my most anticipated movie of 2012.
