The Punisher Returns?

The Marvel Comics character The Punisher, has seen 3 iterations on the big screen. The Punisher (1989) starring Dolf "Ivan Drago" Lundgren, The Punisher (2004) starring Thomas Jane, and Punisher: WarZone (2008) starring Ray Stevenson. The Thomas Jane version is arguably the best of the bunch, and even got an extended Cut released on DVD. Jane has never been shy about his love and respect for the character, and his wish to return to the role.

To prove it, and as a homage to the character and a gift to the fans of Frank Castle he debuted a short film entitled Dirt Lanudry where he again plays Frank Castle and takes out several low life drug dealers in what can only be described as an awesomely violent and gory 10 minutes worthy of the Punisher name. Hopefully this will help Marvel execs green light another Punisher Film with Jane in the starring role. Considering the movie rights to the character have reverted to Marvel it may just be the perfect time for this short to be released. The film features another comic book fan Ron Pearlman as the store keeper.

With the success of other marvel properties, its a good time to give Frank another shot at the limelight. I'm sure with a decent script, the Punisher can be the dark, violent and grimy movie fans of the character have been wanting since Thomas Jane put on the skull shirt.

Seems it worked in some form, as IMDB now was a The Punisher movie in production set for 2014. The Punisher (2014)
